Well-Known iGaming Industry Brand GiG Media Announces Rebranding to Gentoo Media
GiG Media has rebranded to Gentoo Media, signaling a fresh era for the company as it prepares for a business split and aims to strengthen its position as a leading affiliate in the global iGaming industry.
GiG Media announced on June 18 that it has completed a full rebranding process and will now operate under the Gentoo Media name. On its LinkedIn page, the company celebrated the change with the slogan “new logo, look and feel!”
The announcement clarified that although the name has changed, the team and the company’s well-known products remain the same. Gentoo Media enters the market with a new brand promise aimed at partners — “You Get More.”
Gaming Innovation Group Split and Leadership Comments
Gaming Innovation Group (GiG) previously revealed plans to split its two business sections, with the separation scheduled for Q3 2024. Both the split and rebranding underline GiG’s commitment to becoming a leading affiliate business in the iGaming industry.
CEO Jonas Warrer described the rebrand as “a big milestone” in the company’s journey, adding that Gentoo was developed with both employees and partners in mind. He emphasized that Gentoo represents “a new era” filled with opportunities for growth.
Board Chairman Mikael Harstad echoed this sentiment, calling the move “a pivotal moment” and “a vital step” that would boost shareholder value and allow both verticals to grow independently.
The leadership highlighted three main goals of the rebrand:
- Strengthening Gentoo’s position as a top-tier affiliate network.
- Enhancing shareholder value and brand independence.
- Creating a stronger, partner-focused identity under the Gentoo brand.
The Inspiration Behind the Gentoo Name
The Gentoo penguin, known as “the cheekiest penguin species,” inspired the new brand identity. Despite its playful image, the Gentoo penguin is now classified as “near threatened.”
The name pays homage to Rebel Penguin Agency, a company acquired by GiG in 2017, whose DNA remains a part of Gentoo’s culture. By integrating Rebel Penguin’s proprietary technology, GiG strengthened its affiliate network and maintained a link to its heritage.
Gentoo Media’s performance highlights include:
- 13 consecutive quarters of record revenues and strong EBITDA margins.
- A team of 300+ employees representing 50+ nationalities.
- Operations across 200 markets with four global office locations.
Expansion and Future Prospects
The year 2024 has been especially dynamic for GiG, with multiple initiatives under way. The company has adopted the Quality Mark Regulatory Assurance policy to ensure product compliance and announced plans to launch CoreX and SportX platforms in partnership with GP Gaming, initially targeting European markets.
Additionally, GiG is in the process of acquiring Titan, an SEO and content provider, further strengthening its marketing efficiency and competitive position.
These moves demonstrate that both GiG and Gentoo Media are entering a transformative phase, focused on innovation, global expansion, and long-term growth.
Through the Gentoo rebrand, GiG Media not only marks a fresh beginning but also honors its legacy, setting the stage for continued leadership in the affiliate and iGaming sectors.
