Washington casino plots second major renovation to mark 20th anniversary
A Washington casino has confirmed plans to carry out a second major renovation and expansion as part of its 20th anniversary celebrations.
The Tulalip Tribes of Washington, which opened its namesake casino in 2003 to the tune of $78million, has revealed work is set to begin soon to expand the resort’s gaming space by 70,250 square feet.
Although an initial $15m refurbishment was carried out on the complex in 2016, this focussed more on refreshing some of the hotel’s 370 rooms.
However, an artist’s rendering of the casino gave a glimpse of the stunning interior upgrade which will have a planetarium-like domed ceiling above the casino’s main bar.
The casino, which currently stretches across 192,000 square feet, boasting 2,400 slot machines, 37 table games, a bingo room, as well as an in-house sportsbook sponsored by DraftKings, is set for a significant revamp.
That said, the native tribe has been tight-lipped about other project details.
There has been no mention of the budget, although it is believed the renovation for the casino, which is based 45 miles north of downtown Seattle, could be finished in 2025.
Discussing the refurbishment, Marci Fryberg, president and chief operating officer of Tulalip Gaming Organization, said: “The expansion and renovation of Tulalip Resort Casino will set a new standard for quality and excellence among casino resort properties throughout the Pacific Northwest.
“This project exemplifies our continued devotion to provide guests with all the comforts, amenities, and services one expects in a premier destination resort.”
One of the major advantages of the casino is that it is a smoke-free venue, with e-cigarettes and vapes also banned on the gaming floor.
The Tulalip Resort Casino is a designated AAA Four Diamond property, and it has held that particular distinction since 2009.
