According to reports, SBC is gearing up for a switch in location in 2024, and it has found a new home in Lisbon to stage its flagship event.

The leading gaming events company and B2B publisher has decided to rehome Lisbon from its current base in Barcelona to meet growing industry demands.

Previously known as SBC Summit Barcelona, the newly rebranded event next year will now be known as SBC Summit 2024, and it will take place at Feira Internacional de Lisboa (FIL) over three days between 24 and 26 September.

Moreover, the networking event will occupy over 100,000 square metres of exhibition space, more than double the size of the 2023 venue.

It is expected that SBC Summit 2024 will be able to hold 25,000 attendees at FIL, and it will welcome around 600 exhibitors through its doors.

The expanded venue reflects SBC’s strides over the past 12 months, and it necessitated a departure from Barcelona.

Explaining his thoughts on the move, Rasmus Sojmark, SBC CEO and Founder, said: “The decision for a new home for our flagship event was driven by its remarkable growth, which had outpaced the capacity of Fira Barcelona Montjuic, as well as praise and support from clients and industry stakeholders.

“When we say it’s the fastest ever-growing event in the industry, we mean it, and that’s why finding the right venue and city was essential.”

The new conference will have eight stages, 500 keynote speakers, and food trucks serving local and international dishes to delegates.

Maria Joao Rocha de Matos, General Director of FIL, is relishing staging SBC next year.

He said: “Our team is committed to working closely with SBC and its community to create an unforgettable experience in our beautiful city.

“We can’t wait to showcase all that FIL and Lisbon have to offer and make the SBC Summit a resounding success for many years.”

From a transport point of view, the Humberto Delgado Airport is situated just 4km from FIL, and it provides direct links to 136 airports worldwide.

This is a bold new era for SBC, but with continued growth, the move to Lisbon could be a critical turning point for the company.
