Plans for the New Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Ottawa Are Advancing Rapidly
The construction progress of the upcoming Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Ottawa, the latest major tourism and entertainment destination in the national capital region, remains on schedule.
Key developments include the installation of the casino’s roof, the connection of multiple structures, and significant progress in constructing the hotel. Navigating through the site underscores the considerable scale of the future facility.
Hard Rock International’s Chief Operations Officer, Jon Lucas, recently led community leaders on a tour of the construction site, providing an upfront look at various amenities.
This included glimpses of the concert hall, casino gaming floor and the locations earmarked for numerous restaurants featured on the site.
Lucas emphasized that the establishment is more than just a casino, highlighting the broader focus on hospitality, entertainment experiences, excellent service and a variety of culinary and nightlife options.
The aim is to offer a diverse range of activities for the local community and Ottawa as a whole.
The anticipated completion date for the project is set for May 2025. Once finished, the facility will feature a 150-room hotel, an expanded casino housing 1,600 slot machines, 40 live-action table games, a sportsbook, high-limit gaming and a dedicated baccarat room.
The site is set to host over 10 restaurants, bars and lounges, including iconic venues such as the Hard Rock Café and Council Oak Steakhouse. Additionally, the live theater venue will accommodate 1,800 seats, along with standing room for 2,200 attendees.
Ottawa Mayor Mark Sutcliffe, who participated in the tour, expressed optimism about the project’s impact on the city.
Hard Rock International’s $350-million construction project stands as one of Ottawa’s largest private investment developments, promising close to 1,900 direct and indirect construction and ongoing employment opportunities.
Councilor George Darouze welcomed the positive news, emphasizing the employment opportunities, transportation benefits and community growth associated with the project.
The Ottawa Senators president, Cyril Leeder, also toured the site and discussed the longstanding partnership between the hockey franchise and Hard Rock, hinting at further collaboration.
Upon completion, the existing Rideau Carleton Casino and Raceway, operational throughout construction, will undergo renovation.
