Ohio’s Hollywood Casino Columbus Set to Expand With New Hotel
Penn Entertainment revealed on Monday that the groundbreaking ceremony for its new hotel at Hollywood Casino Columbus in Ohio is scheduled for 1 PM ET on November 28.
Penn Entertainment CEO Jay Snowden conveyed enthusiasm for the project, emphasizing that since the opening of the Columbus property in 2012, there has been significant growth. He highlighted that the addition of a hotel at Hollywood Casino Columbus would establish a genuine regional destination.
The estimated budget for the project is around $100 million, and the hotel will be connected to the existing property. The upcoming project is anticipated to generate several construction jobs and approximately 100 permanent positions upon the hotel’s completion, as per Penn’s statement.
The hotel is set to comprise 180 rooms, a designated meeting space and a restaurant. Details about local partnerships and additional amenities are expected to be disclosed at a later date.
Hollywood Casino Columbus Vice President & General Manager Rick Skinner expressed eagerness for the hiring process and the prospect of attracting more visitors to showcase the new hotel, emphasizing the positive impact on the region.
This new hotel initiative is part of a previously announced larger plan that encompasses four growth projects. These include the establishment of new land-based casinos in Aurora and Joliet, Illinois, and the addition of another hotel tower at M Resort Spa Casino in Henderson, Nevada.
For the Aurora project, the city is committing $50 million in funding. Gaming and Leisure Properties have pledged up to $575 million of the $850 million budget allocated for all four growth projects.
