Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) is bringing new gaming options to its fleet with the introduction of wide-area progressive jackpots and table games. This comes through a partnership with gaming technology provider Light & Wonder. The collaboration will roll out across all 18 of NCL’s ships, offering guests an elevated casino experience while at sea.

Light & Wonder will install 200 GM Atlas systems on NCL’s ships, featuring wide-area progressive (OWAP) jackpot capabilities and a variety of table games, including blackjack and poker derivatives. These systems allow games to be connected across the fleet through a centralized network, offering players larger jackpots and heightened excitement at the tables.

Niaz Nejad, Managing Director for Light & Wonder’s Americas Gaming division, emphasized the importance of this partnership in enhancing the gaming experience for cruise passengers.

“We take pride in delivering exciting gaming experiences that resonate with players, whether on land or at sea. We’re excited to collaborate with Norwegian Cruise Line to launch its first Operator Wide Area Progressive (OWAP) table games network,” Nejad said.

The OWAP system is designed to link games across multiple ships, allowing players on any vessel in the fleet to contribute to and compete for the same progressive jackpots. This innovation is expected to boost participation and engagement by creating a more dynamic and rewarding gaming environment.

Ian Donald, VP of Gaming Operations for Norwegian Cruise Line, expressed enthusiasm for the partnership and its potential impact on the cruise experience. “This innovative technology allows us to link gaming experiences across our vessels, offering our guests even more excitement and the opportunity for larger payouts,” Donald said.

The first phase of the installation took place on the Norwegian Breakaway in August, with additional installations now underway across the remaining ships. Guests can look forward to these enhanced gaming options as they enjoy NCL’s cruise offerings, from Caribbean getaways to transatlantic voyages.

The collaboration with Light & Wonder reinforces NCL’s commitment to providing diverse and engaging entertainment options for its guests. By introducing innovative gaming technology, the cruise line is setting a new standard for casino offerings at sea. The addition of progressive jackpots is expected to draw both casual and avid gamers, further enhancing the overall cruise experience.

Norwegian Cruise Line’s focus on innovation and guest satisfaction ensures that its casino spaces remain a popular attraction for travelers seeking excitement and entertainment during their voyages.
