Nebraska Slots Casino Looks to Add Table Games and Sportsbook
Through the next coming days and as the month progresses, the Grand Island Casino Resort in Grand Island, Nebraska, may opt to open a sportsbook and add more gambling options. If so, this would make the establishment a one-of-a-kind in the state.
The Nebraska Racing and Gaming Commission will address and discuss the casino’s expansion request on August 18 at its official meeting. If the commission were to approve the administration’s proposal, new gaming areas could be offered to the public as of that same day.
Regarding new gaming offered at the casino, the establishment’s administration plans to add all the options to the current gaming floor plan: roulette, craps, and Ultimate Texas Hold’em. Five blackjack tables would also be considered as part of the new arrangement.
Ultimate Texas Hold’em is a blackjack-style game, although it remains a poker game. In traditional poker, players are expected to face each other, but players play against the dealer in this new variant.
Aside from over 330 slot machines, a more extensive food and beverage area would be considered part of the new expansion. The latter would be offered to the public on August 18. With a 50-seat setup, additional entertainment, such as live band performances, would be included as part of the new trend.
With an expansion of the food area, new items would also be added to the menu. Players will now enjoy a wider variety of American classics without leaving the casino and pausing their game.
Fiala is now all-in for the upcoming meeting that is to take place on August 18. With the Racing and Gaming Commission’s authorization, a new sports betting operation is also expected to open.
If the administration receives the approval, the sportsbook is expected to open right before the start of the football season.
While no approvals have been received yet, Fiala stated that workers are preparing the windows and kiosks. WarHorse Casino in Lincoln, which started operations in June, is the only casino in Nebraska with a sportsbook.
If everything moves according to plan, Grand Island’s permanent casino might open as early as December 2024. Although Fiala has defined the deadline, supply chain challenges, labor factors, and others might also affect the final date.
As in the case of the casino at Lincoln, gaming has decreased during the previous few months in Grand Island. According to Fiala, players are more interested in golf and baseball games, which explains why the summer tends to be slower than usual.
