MGM Resorts, BetMGM Team up With Kindbridge for Responsible Gambling Initiatives
MGM Resorts International and BetMGM are collaborating with Kindbridge Research Institute and Kindbridge Behavioral Health on initiatives to enhance problem gambling research, provide mental health services for veterans, and offer problem gambling referrals in seven US states and Ontario, Canada.
As part of its commitment, MGM Resorts is contributing $100,000 to the Kindbridge Research Institute. This will support a voluntary medication trial aimed at assisting veterans dealing with gambling addiction in Las Vegas.
The initiative seeks to reduce gambling urges and alleviate symptoms among veterans with gambling disorders. MGM Resorts emphasizes its dedication to supporting the military community through this contribution and investment in research for innovative treatments.
Las Vegas Veterans Affairs Residential Recovery and Renewal Center treatment providers, in collaboration with the University of Nevada-Las Vegas, are set to undertake research as part of the Kingsbridge Research Institute’s 50x4vets program.
This program is a multi-year research initiative aimed at a fiftyfold increase in research. Nathan D. Smith, the Executive Director of Kindbridge Research Institute, conveyed optimism about the intervention.
Smith expressed gratitude for MGM Resorts’ support in improving veterans’ lives and extending the efforts of scientists, treatment providers and donors in the 50x4vets program.
The study, conducted in collaboration with esteemed partners, emphasizes a commitment to advancing research for the well-being of veterans and the broader scientific community.
This development coincides with BetMGM’s completion of six months in the Kindbridge Colorado Pilot Program. BetMGM’s Chief Compliance Officer, Rhea Loney, expressed pride in leading initiatives for life-changing support, underlining the commitment to accessible care.
The collaboration aims to offer direct access to mental health assessments, treatment, and group support services. Notably, residents in Colorado opting for self-exclusion are actively receiving referrals for voluntary treatment from BetMGM.
Kindbridge Behavioral Health CEO, Daniel Umfleet, applauded the initiative as a positive move in supporting individuals dealing with gambling challenges, stressing the importance of accessible assistance and collective responsibility in promoting safer gaming environments.
MGM Resorts and BetMGM are actively involved in Problem Gambling Awareness Month in partnership with the National Council on Problem Gambling.
They will prominently display GameSense messaging throughout March at MGM Resorts properties nationwide and within the BetMGM app.
GameSense, a responsible gaming program initially developed in 2017 by the British Columbia Lottery Corporation, focuses on fostering positive, transparent and proactive interactions about responsible gambling.
Additionally, MGM Resorts and BetMGM are extending their partnership with the American Gaming Association’s ‘Have A Game Plan, Bet Responsibly’ public service campaign.
This initiative aims to educate both new and experienced bettors on responsible and legal sports wagering principles.
The collective efforts reflect a commitment to raising awareness and promoting responsible gaming practices within the industry.
