Louisiana Gaming Revenue Registers Slight Improvement in February
According to the Louisiana Gaming Control Board’s report on Tuesday, gaming revenue for February reached $194.6 million, a 1.0% rise from the previous year and a significant 19.3% surge from February 2023.
Notably, all gaming districts across the Bayou State experienced revenue growth compared to the same period in 2023, except for Lake Charles, which recorded a decline of 4.5%, and Evangeline Racetrack and Casino in St. Landry Parish, which saw a marginal decrease of 1.1%.
In online sports betting, revenue surged to $30.4 million, boasting a formidable year-over-year spike of 39%. This was spurred by a substantial $253 million handle, an increase of 44% compared to February 2023.
Meanwhile, retail sports betting chipped in with revenue totaling $0.8 million, derived from a handle of $21.7 million.
Despite experiencing a year-over-year dip, Lake Charles properties emerged as the top performers among all Louisiana districts, amassing a total gaming revenue of $69.8 million.
Golden Nugget Lake Charles led the pack, raking in $24.8 million, narrowly surpassing L’Auberge Casino Resort Lake Charles, which generated $24.6 million. Delta Downs Racetrack Casino Hotel also contributed $14.1 million in revenue, while Horseshoe Lake Charles added $6.3 million to the tally.
In the Shreveport/Bossier district, properties collectively amassed revenue totaling $48.1 million, marking a modest uptick of 1.1% compared to February 2023.
Margaritaville Resort Casino emerged as a frontrunner, boasting revenue of $16.7 million. It was closely followed by Horseshoe Bossier City, which reported $10.5 million, and Bally’s Shreveport Casino & Hotel, which generated $9.4 million.
Meanwhile, operators in the New Orleans district reported robust revenue of $47.7 million, reflecting a year-over-year increase of 4.4% compared to the $45.7 million recorded in February 2023.
Leading the charge was Harrah’s New Orleans, which contributed $23.8 million in revenue, Boomtown Casino & Hotel brought in $10.7 million, and Treasure Chest Casino rounded out the district’s performance with revenue of $6.9 million.
Experiencing the most significant year-over-year surge, the Baton Rouge district witnessed a remarkable 10.7% increase, boasting revenue figures of $22.8 million compared to the $20.6 million reported in February 2023.
At the forefront in this district was the L’Auberge Casino Hotel, contributing a substantial $14.9 million to the revenue stream, while the Queen of Baton Rouge added $7.3 million.
