Light & Wonder to manage slot operations at Las Vegas airport
Light & Wonder has been brought in to manage the slot operations at Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas.
The leading iGaming and casino content supplier has been chosen as the next management company to tend to the 1,100 slot machines running across the airport’s terminals.
Harry Reid International is one of only two airports in the US featuring slot machines, and Michael Gaughan, which has held the slot license for the Las Vegas aviation facility for over 40 years, recently expanded its footprint.
Indeed, Gaughan, which owns and oversees the South Point Hotel & Casino south of the Las Vegas Strip, entered the Colorado gaming market by acquiring the gaming operations rights at Johnny Nolon’s and Colorado Grande in Cripple Creek.
Light & Wonder, who recently developed the technology that would predict when a slot machine would malfunction, will now be on hand to deliver 24/7 IT support to the airport.
And Light & Wonder will also take over all the managed slot services from Gaughan.
Reacting to the news, Patricia Ross, general manager of Michael Gaughan’s Airport Slot Concession, said: “Choosing Light & Wonder as our system provider was a decision rooted in their next-level customer support.
“Their commitment to excellence extends beyond leading-edge technology and supports our goal of delivering an exceptional player experience.”
While airport slots have garnered an unwanted reputation for not paying out, Gaughan’s slot company announced in November 2022 that the airport slots had hauled in over $1 billion in all-time gross revenue.
Harry Reid International is the country’s seventh-busiest airport, with a record 57.6 million people passing through the terminals last year.
Light & Wonder has been busy over the past few weeks enhancing its content offerings through strategic deals to partner with the latest talents in the gaming industry.
Not only that, but at the ICE London exhibition earlier this month, Light & Wonder showcased some of its latest games, including three dragon-themed slot titles as a nod to the Chinese New Year.
However, the handling of the slot operations at Harry Reid International Airport will be viewed as a privilege for Light & Wonder, and it is hoped they will redefine the gaming experience for passengers.
