Las Vegas Sands Reveals Plans for Massive Casino in New York
Las Vegas Sounds has just announced one of the most ambitious projects the company has undertaken. The enterprise has announced that it intends to build a large-scale New York casino on Long Island.
The plan outlines the construction of more than 3.7 million square feet of development above ground. In addition, 3.9 million square feet will also be rebuilt for parking and garages and more than 765,000 square feet of underground space to accommodate thousands of gamblers.
Sands automatically claims to have the third-largest casino in the US when and if it’s built. The fact that the casino would be built in Long Island certainly makes it a particular case. Still, the casino would stand as one of the largest in the world.
The plan has been presented. Approval from local authorities, local communities, and ultimately state regulators are still pending. According to the Sands organization, not everyone will ever be pleased with including gaming and betting infractions in their communities. Yet, that is a bet all extensive hospitality and entertainment companies take to expand their brand.”
The Sand New York Casino would stand next to the WinStar World Casino & Resort in Oklahoma and the Mohegan Sun in Connecticut as the largest casinos in the US territory. For Sands to be considered eligible for a New York casino license, the brand must submit the official application.
Before the company moves forward with its application for a downstate license, local officials must also give the company the green light to offer and promote commercial gambling in the area.
As mentioned before by the gaming operator, a large casino enterprise is only sometimes welcomed in some areas around the country. While undoubtedly, a casino would be a significant magnet for potential tourists, not all residents see the business with the same potential to elevate local economies.
The Say No to the Casino Civic Association is one of the most outspoken opponents of the Sands NY casino proposal. The association previously spoke out against Sands following allegations that the gaming corporation could ask for a reduction in the mortgagee recording tax and a sales tax exemption on purchases of construction materials.
The Say No to the Casino Civic Association emphasized that Sands has displayed intentions for a mega gaming project that doesn’t quite fulfil the needs of the local communities. The organization highlighted the intention for Sands to pursue an expansion strategy for lucrative purposes without considering any additional impact the facilities will have on the current landscape of small-scale and local businesses.
