Konami Gaming To Bring Its BC Gold Progressive Slots To British Columbia

The British Columbia Lottery Corporation (BCLC) and Konami Gaming, Inc. have entered into a partnership to launch the next generation of the widely popular BC Gold slot machines. This agreement will introduce 245 new video slot machines, updated software, and advanced signage displays across 27 casino locations in British Columbia by spring 2027.

BC Gold, a hallmark of British Columbia’s gaming scene since 1999, is a wide area progressive (WAP) game known for its substantial jackpots and community impact. Historically offered as a mechanical reel stepper machine, the game is now set to evolve into a modern video slot experience. 

This marks the first time the game will feature a fully digital format, bringing a fresh appeal while maintaining its roots in the province’s rich mining heritage.

Konami Gaming has been tasked with reimagining BC Gold after a rigorous seven-month review process conducted by BCLC. Konami’s selection was based on its superior performance in areas like game design, technical capabilities, and alignment with BCLC’s goals. 

Steve Sutherland, president and CEO of Konami Gaming, highlighted the company’s commitment to meeting expectations, emphasizing the importance of delivering innovative technology and enhancing player engagement.

The upgraded BC Gold slots will feature a two-tier progressive jackpot system, with prizes exceeding $100,000 for the Mystery Gold Jackpot and $500 for the Mystery Silver Jackpot. These jackpots will be interconnected, allowing players across the province to contribute to and compete for the prizes through every BC Gold machine. The reimagined version will retain the familiar BC Gold branding and character, ensuring continuity for long-time fans of the game.

Dan Beebe, BCLC’s COO, expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration, noting that BC Gold has been a significant part of the gaming experience in British Columbia for over two decades. The partnership with Konami is expected to enhance the game’s appeal and bring innovative features to players while continuing to contribute to community initiatives through gaming revenues.

The organization also promotes responsible gaming through tools like PlayNow.com, its online gambling platform, which provides resources to encourage healthy play.
