Cordish Companies given go-ahead to complete Louisiana casino project
Cordish Companies is gearing up to transform the Louisiana gambling scene after being given the seal of approval by the Louisiana Gaming Control Board to redevelop the Diamond Jacks & Casino Hotel, according to reports.
The Diamond Jacks & Casino Hotel, which is based in Bossier City, has been closed since the COVID-19 pandemic first took its grip in March 2020.
But Cordish Companies, which is held in high regard in the casino world, has been given the go-ahead to become an operator in Louisiana, and they will transform the derelict resort into a $270million Live! branded entertainment venue.
The Gaming Control Board approved Cordish Companies’ master plan to redevelop the property back in April this year, and the new venue is slated to open its doors to the public in 2025.
Indeed, this spectacular resort will house the first land-based casino in the Shreveport-Bossier market.
The sprawling complex will possess over 47,000 square feet of gaming space, featuring more than 1,000 slots and electronic table games, as well as 40 live table games to occupy visitors.
Not only that, but there will be an in-house sportsbook, as well as a 550-room hotel for guests to unwind at, as well as a plethora of other dining and entertainment options.
Discussing the project, Joe Weinberg, Managing Partner of the Cordish Companies, said: “We’re grateful to the Louisiana Gaming Control Board for their approval and thank them for their consideration and enthusiastic support throughout this process.
“Live! Casino & Hotel Louisiana will be a transformative development that will bring first-class gaming, dining, entertainment, and hospitality experience, and will create significant new jobs and generate millions of dollars in economic benefits for the community.
“We are extremely excited to continue moving forward with this project and deliver a world-class destination to the region.”
This is just the latest move by Cordish Companies as it seeks to extend its presence through the South Central and Southeast regions of the US.
With a growing portfolio of land-based casinos under its belt, it will be fascinating to see if Cordish Companies fulfils its hype in Louisiana.
