Caesars Atlantic City Close To Completing $240M Renovation
In 2020, as part of its merger with Eldorado Resorts, Caesars Entertainment committed to investing $400 million into its Atlantic City casinos. This condition was a requirement from the New Jersey Casino Control Commission for approving the merger of the two companies.
Caesars operates several casinos in Atlantic City, including its namesake casino, Harrah’s and Tropicana. A significant portion of the $400 million investment was allocated to Caesars Atlantic City, which opened its doors in 1979 and needed a significant renovation.
As part of the $240 million overhaul of Caesars Atlantic City, the top three floors of the Centurion Tower were transformed into guest rooms branded as Nobu. The Roman-themed decor was replaced with a Japanese-inspired motif to align with the Nobu hospitality brand.
Nobu Hospitality, named after the renowned Japanese celebrity chef and restaurateur Nobu Matsuhisa, was co-founded in 1994 by Nobu himself, actor Robert De Niro and film producer Meir Teper.
In 2015, billionaire James Packer, the founder and ousted former CEO of Australian casino company Crown Resorts, acquired a 20% stake in Nobu Hospitality for $100 million.
Now, Caesars Entertainment has announced that reservations for overnight stays at the Nobu Hotel at Caesars Atlantic City are available starting January 2, 2024. Alongside the hotel, Caesars Atlantic City features a Nobu restaurant that opened in October.
The room rates for the opening weekend of Nobu Hotel Atlantic City are relatively high. A standard king guest room for the weekend of January 5-7, 2024, costs $608 per night before resort fees and taxes.
The total cost, including the $28 per night resort fee and hotel occupancy taxes, is $1,460.38, or $730.19 per night. In contrast, a comparable king room on Caesars-branded floors is priced at just $204 per night before fees and taxes.
Nobu Hotel offers 85 guest rooms and suites across the three floors, all offering ocean views.
The renovation of Caesars Atlantic City has also led to improvements in the arrival experience, including a fully renovated hotel lobby.
Additionally, the rooftop pool complex, known as The Pool at Caesars, which boasts Atlantic Ocean views, has been renovated, though it is set to open in the summer of 2024.
Caesars emphasizes that its investments, totalling $240 million in Caesars Atlantic City and $160 million in upgrades to Harrah’s and Tropicana, reflect its ongoing commitment to the Atlantic City casino scene.
