Better Collective has continued to spread its footprint worldwide and has now bought its first Brazilian sports media platform, Torcedores.com, the company has confirmed.

Torcedores is known for its extensive content generation, and Better Collective will use its expertise to consolidate its position in South America.

Although the transaction details remain undisclosed, Better Collective stated that they will finance the deal through cash.

Moreover, Better Collective will renovate the advertising streams at Torcedores, as Torcedores has been relying on traditional advertising (CPM) to make money up until now.

Nevertheless, Torcedores has enjoyed exponential growth over the past 12 months. It also makes waves on major social media platforms, generating a significant following on Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, and Instagram.

While soccer is worshipped in Brazil, Torcedores also caters to other sports fans’ tastes with tailored content regularly updated for basketball, volleyball, tennis, and esports.

Indeed, Torcedores claims to have a monthly audience of over 12 million fans, representing a severe coup for Better Collective. The deal will also incorporate Better Collective handling Torcedores’ smaller assets.

Giving his thoughts on the news, Simon Hovmand-Stilling, CEO of Better Collective South America, said: “The Brazilian market represents significant growth opportunities for the Group, as we are looking to apply our M&A and market entry strategy proven to be successful in both Europe and North America to grow our presence in the Brazilian sports media market.

“To build a leading position, localisation and strong media brands are key ingredients — acquiring Torcedores.com fits perfectly into that strategy.”

This is an exciting development as Better Collective has been busy snapping other sports media properties.

Last month, Better Collective acquired four Swedish sports media brands to the tune of €3.7million ($4m) — SvenskaFans.com, HockeySverige.se, Fotbolldirekt.se and Innebandymagazinet.se.

Torcedores has its headquarters in Sao Paulo. Aside from having an office in Sao Paulo, Better Collective will move into a new office in Rio de Janeiro to underline its commitment to delivering first-class content in Brazil.
