Arizona earmark 2024 opening for $450m Desert Diamond Casino
Arizona is poised to have a second Desert Diamond Casino establishment in West Valley, and it has been earmarked to open at the end of 2024, according to tribal officials.
The Tohono O’odham Nation Tribe, which owns Desert Diamond Casino, already has four locations on the West Coast. Still, the second West Valley casino opening could represent its most ambitious project.
Indeed, the new $ 450 million facility will be built on a 110-acre site that will be situated near Loop 303 and Northern Avenue near Glendale. It also seems that no expense has been spared in the tribal’s efforts to provide a premium gaming space.
Among the highlights of the casino include a poker room, 900 slot machines, a retail sportsbook, and an array of table games, such as baccarat, blackjack, and craps.
To give an idea about the scale of the project, around 5,000 construction workers have been brought in to help lay the foundations and build the casino.
Once the project has been completed, it is believed to create around 1,000 new jobs.
While there has yet to be an official word about the exact opening date, progress has been made, and everything is supposed to be on track for the casino to be made available to players by December 2024.
The second Desert Diamond Casino in West Valley has been built to forge better relationships in the local community, and it could have a positive financial impact in the long term.
Giving his thoughts on the casino, Tohono O’odham Nation Chairman Verlon Jose said: “It’s bringing resources to communities that no one ever imagined were out there.
“The beauty of it is we control where and how these things go.
“And the beauty is it is not our people being taxed. The revenue comes from everyone who walks into and enjoys our facility.”
Desert Diamond Casino opened its first casino in West Valley in 2015, and Tohono O’odham wants to make itself a more visible presence in the community.
Since the 1980s, expansion in the area has been relatively seamless, thanks to the agreements of land settlements. Tohono O’odham hopes things go just as smoothly when Desert Diamond Casino gets its grand opening.
